Meditation has been found to have many of the same benefits as those listed for entrainment on this website, yet many people find it very difficult to learn to meditate properly. Ken Wilber, author of at least 2 dozen books on consciousness studies, has said it can take three to five years to learn to meditate properly in the Zen Buddhist tradition.
EEG studies done on experienced Zen meditators have often shown Alpha and Theta brainwave patterns to be dominant. Yet first-time meditators using specific kinds of entrainment technology are able to enter into those brainwave patterns from the very first attempt. In fact, the technology I've been developing actually takes listeners much deeper than Theta, all the way down through Delta (which is the pattern usually produced during deep, dreamless sleep) and down into sub-Delta (called Epsilon by a few researchers) states (as low as .1 Hz, which is otherwise unheard of in waking adults, other than highly trained yogis, monks, etc.). As a result, regular users of such technology often report experiencing many of the benefits of very advanced meditation in a fraction of the time.
